The Institute is committed to high quality research which combines real world problem solving with the theory development and testing. It has a dual publication policy is focussed both on scientific publications in top quality international journals and on the dissemination of research information through reports, books, professional and national level journals and conference publications. In the recent Research Assessment Exercise 2008, virtually all of their research output (95%) was recognised as at the international level, with 70% rated as ‘internationally excellent’ or ‘world-leading’- ranking them 6th amongst their 89 competitors in the UK.
